When Frederic Raykovic was sold from Maccabi Tel Aviv to French side Reims in the summer of 2019, everyone expected it to be a step on the way to a very significant leap forward.

In the three years since then, the Serbian goalkeeper has been mentioned as a candidate for top teams in France, Sevilla and even Milan, but in the end he was sold at the weekend to Mallorca.

In terms of the league - France against Spain - this is an upgrade, but it seems that the expectation was that a little before the age of 27, Raykovic would be in a bigger club.

"The best in the world for his age", is a definition that has already become a cliché in the context of Rayković, a chewed sentence that has been placed on his shoulders since he shone in the youth teams of Serbia that won Euro 2013 (U19) and World Cup 2015 (U20).

With an almost permanent place between the posts of the Serbian national team and stable performances in the French league, the goalkeeper did become one of the best in the world in the

1995 yearbook

, but he is no longer "the best in the world for his age".

On the occasion of the move to Mallorca, we set out to check where other notable goalkeepers from that year are.

Mike Mannion -

undoubtedly the top goalkeeper born in 1995. Moved from Lille to Milan for around 15 million euros last summer and helped the Rossoneri win the Italian championship while keeping a clean sheet in 17 games (!).

In the meantime, he also managed to make 4 appearances in the French national team.

David Raya -

in a certain sense this is a Cinderella story.

A Spanish goalkeeper who came to England at the age of 16, grew up in Blackburn and, despite his height not being impressive at all (1.83 meters), became a significant screw at Rovers and later at Brentford which was promoted to the best league in the world.

Today he is a legitimate Premier League goalkeeper and also a member of the Spanish national team.

Alex Ramiro -

Real Sociedad's goalkeeper grew up at regional rival Athletic Bilbao, but in 2019 Unai Simon was promoted and Ramiro was sent on his way and landed in San Sebastian.

In the three years that have passed since then, he has become one of the most prominent goalkeepers in the Spanish league and last season he kept a clean sheet in no less than 19 league games.

Pierluigi Gollini

- The Italian was destined for greatness even before anyone had heard of Raykovic.

He played in Manchester United's youth team, returned to Italy, was bought by Aston Villa, but made his big break at Atalanta in the 2018/19 season.

In 2019, he made his debut in the Italian senior team and last season was loaned to Tottenham with a purchase option of 15 million euros, but was unable to threaten Hugo Lloris.

About two weeks ago he went on loan to Fiorentina where he is supposed to be the first goalkeeper again.

Tomasz Strakoša -

164 Serie A appearances for Lazio say almost everything.

At the age of 27, Stracoche already has two trophies and two Italian Super Cups, as well as several youth titles for the team from Rome.

The Albanian, who was actually born in Greece, recently moved to Brentford after ending his contract at Lazio and he will try to give a fight to his age-mate, David Raya.

Zach Stephan -

goalkeeper of the USA national team, the local footballer of the year in 2018, has already won two championships with Manchester City, but of course he did so as a substitute goalkeeper. And yet, he managed to stand between the posts of Pep Guardiola 21 times in different enterprises, including in the final The League Cup in 2021 in which the Blues beat Tottenham 0:1. And it's very nice. Next season he will play on loan at Middlesbrough from the Championship.

Agustin Rossi -

One of the best goalkeepers in South America, who won every possible title in Argentina with Boca Juniors and has already been invited to the national team.

The lack of a European passport does not help him to go to the old continent, since in Italy and Spain - his two natural markets - there is a restriction on foreigners.

Marvin Schwab -

The German played in all the youth teams of Germany which he reached through the youth of Hoffenheim, but until the age of 26 he did not get a chance in the Bundesliga.

He spent time on loan at Osenbrück and Dynamo Dresden, moved to Brondby in Denmark and last summer returned to Germany as a second goalkeeper at P.C.

In November he was called to the team due to an injury to Timo Horn and since then he has not left it - even after Horn recovered.

Kept a clean sheet in 19 La Liga games last season.

And what about Israel?

No one thought that there would be a goalkeeper here who approaches the level of Raykovic, but still one can be disappointed with the yearbook.

In Israel there are no goalkeepers in the Premier League who were born in Raykovich's yearbook.

The notable 1995 born who emerged to one degree or another in the top league in the past (usually as substitutes) are Matan Ambar, Tal Bomstein, Mehdi Zoevi and Avihai Dahan.
