In which stadium will TSV 1860 play in the future?

Löwen investor Hasan Ismaik is clearly against an expansion of the Grünwalder stadium.

Munich

– The first of 38 steps has been taken.

TSV 1860 is on cloud nine after the opening success at top favorite Dynamo Dresden.

The mood within the team could hardly be better before the DFB Cup cracker against Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening.

In the club, however, it's rumbling again.

In focus: Löwen investor Hasan Ismaik and the planned expansion of the Grünwalder Stadium.

As a reminder: Giesing's heights should not be modernized until 2027 at the earliest for 77 million euros.

This was decided by the city council at the end of April after the lions had given positive signs of wanting to play in Giesing in the long term.

TSV 1860: Ismaik calls for "another stadium route"

That bothers Ismaik, however.

In a Facebook post, the Jordanian showed his displeasure with the planned expansion.

“It is our obligation that we take our stadium future into our own hands and do not wait for what third parties plan for us.

We have to set up our club in such a way that it is fit for the future.

That's why I don't think much of the fact that 1860 has committed itself to a converted Grünwald stadium for decades, in which our club cannot grow - neither financially nor sportingly," writes the 44-year-old.

Voices that the city of Munich will not like to hear.

Finally, the plans for a stadium suitable for the second division were mainly initiated because of the TSV 1860.

However, Ismaik calls on those responsible for the lions to find another solution.

"I hope that after five years the club will finally recognize that we have to choose a different stadium path for our common goals," the investor continues.

TSV 1860: What alternative remains to the Grünwalder stadium?

However, he left it open what the “other way to the stadium” would look like in his opinion.

The fans would not accept a return to the Allianz Arena and would have to be negotiated with FC Bayern first.

The Olympic Stadium after its modernization would probably be a size too big.

And even the biggest optimists shouldn't seriously believe in a new stadium of their own in these times.

The only thing left is the Grünwalder Stadium.

The majority of lion fans also feel very comfortable there.

Sluggish conversion or not.

Incidentally, the sixty followers responded promptly to Ismaik's plans.

In the away win in Dresden on Saturday, after all four goals, they showed a large waving flag with Hasan Ismaik's likeness crossed out.
