The longest relay race in the world - Running out of time, whose goal is to raise global awareness of the fact that the time left for us as humanity to act in order to deal with the climate crisis is running out, will start this September from Glasgow, Scotland, where the last climate conference was held.

The runners will carry with them a message from the leaders of tomorrow - the young youth, to the leaders of the world that there is a critical need to mobilize and act urgently in favor of its treatment.

Registration for participation in the race, which was initiated by The World Relay organization, and which is led in Israel by the Ecotion association, opened last week.

As mentioned, the race will start from Glasgow on September 30, and it is expected that more than 250,000 people from all over the world will take part in the event that will last 38 days, 24/7 and will be spread over about 7,800 kilometers.

The race will pass through 18 countries, will also reach Israel and will end in November in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, close to the launch of a climate conference that will be held in the big city in Sinai.

The participants will carry with them a baton containing the important message that will pass through hands from section to section, when upon its arrival in Israel, it will be received by representatives of the "Equasion" association working to preserve and protect the marine environment.

The association promotes the race here in Israel and serves as the representative of the international FEE environmental education fund. 

The scepter will arrive in Israel from Cyprus by sea on 1/11.

He will be staying here for about three days and will cross the border into Egypt through the Taba border crossing.

The race will run along 576 kilometers of the country from the head of the Nakra to Eilat and will include 54 running segments through 35 local authorities.

The big event will be held in collaboration with government ministries, local authorities, various civil society organizations and foreign embassies.

At the end of the Israeli segment as mentioned above, the baton will be passed from the local representatives to the Egyptian representatives and later, upon the baton's arrival in Sharm el-Sheikh, the message contained in it will be revealed to world leaders in a large and publicized ceremony.

The route, which the baton will pass in Israel, includes the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

It will pass through the Negev and the Arabah and, among other things, at sites that are at high risk due to climate change, as well as at sites that have a negative impact on the situation and at sites that present solutions to the problem, such as the Blue Flag beaches and nature reserves, alongside historical sites with a deep and symbolic connection to the country.

Adults will take part in the race alongside young people, as well as students of all ages who will be exposed to it through educational frameworks and during which educational environmental content will also be integrated.

During the month of November, when the race reaches Israel, "School Day" will be held in all the countries participating in the race, and for the benefit of this, an adapted environmental educational program in the Hebrew and Arabic languages ​​for all ages will also be delivered to the Ministry of Education.

The event is expected to receive extensive international media exposure and will allow Israel's beautiful face to be revealed to the world, this is through the presentation of the unique and authentic stories that exist in it and will be spread along the route.
