The Swedish Armand Duplantis concluded the World Athletics Championships in apotheosis by beating the world pole vault record with a jump of 6.21 m in addition to the title won Sunday in Eugene (Oregon).
Already certain of being in gold, the Olympic champion improved his own record (6.20 in March in Belgrade) on the second try.
American Christopher Nilsen took silver, as at the Tokyo Games last summer, and Filipino Ernest John Obiena bronze, both with jumps of 5.94m.
