Mons Davor decided to retire from the Israeli national team.
The 30-year-old striker decided today (Tuesday) to end his career in the national uniform, about eight years after he made his debut and after 40 appearances during which he scored 15 goals.
"Hello everyone. I want to inform you of my decision to end my chapter in the Israeli national team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family and everyone who supported me all along the way," Davor wrote on his Instagram page.
As you may remember, Davor suffered continuous boos following the post he published during the "Guardian of the Walls" operation in 2021, in which it was written that "God sees everything and he will repay the wrongdoers", alongside a picture of the Al Aqsa Mosque in light of the clashes between Muslim worshipers and the security forces of the State of Israel .
Davor tried to explain his words and claimed that they were taken out of context, but a significant part of the team's fans were not convinced and did not stop whistling at him.
Mons Davor made his senior team debut in 2014 in a friendly match against Honduras, and in his first official match he scored 0:4 against Andorra.
Davor's last appearances came last month as part of the Nations League in a pair of games against Iceland and in a meeting against Albania.
