In the past few weeks, there have been repeated rumors about a change from Benjamin Pavard.
But the Frenchman doesn't seem to want to commit himself yet.
Las Vegas/Munich – Benjamin Pavard's future at Bayern Munich is still open.
After the 1-0 defeat in the friendly against Manchester City, TV broadcaster
Sport1
asked the French how and whether things would continue in Munich.
The defense attorney gave a short laugh and said, "I don't know, honestly!"
Rumors of a departure from Munich have been swirling about the 26-year-old Pavard for weeks.
With the signing of Matthijs de Ligt, a change seems to have become even more likely if Pavard does not want to watch the important games from the bench.
Will Benjamin Pavard leave Bayern?
Nagelsmann wishes to stay in Munich
Another argument against a change is that Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann is considered a fan of the 2018 world champion.
Nagelsmann recently emphasized that he would like to keep Pavard, who can be used in the center of defense as well as at right-back.
"I would like Benjamin Pavard to stay," said the Munich coach at the press conference before the game against Manchester City.
The Frenchman is "a fantastic and important player" and he can "be used variably in several positions," Nagelsmann continued.
"But let's wait and see what happens.
I would like to stay.”
Is Pavard leaving FCB?
Last season the Frenchman played an important role
The Frenchman's current contract in Munich runs until the summer of 2014. In 2019 he switched from VfB Stuttgart to the Isar for 35 million, since then he has played 119 competitive games for the German record champions, preparing eleven goals and scoring five himself. Last season, Nagelsmann used him 25 times in the Bundesliga, 24 of them from the start, and ten times in the Champions League.
The defender definitely played an important role for Munich.
However, it remains to be seen whether this will also be the case in the 2022/23 season.
