FC Bayern have signed Mathys Tel from Stade Rennes.

According to tz information, the 17-year-old gets a long-term contract - and FCB pays a high transfer fee.

Update from July 24, 9:07 a.m .:

Julian Nagelsmann has high expectations of the potential newcomer Mathys Tel, but wants to give the 17-year-old time to develop.

"He's a very young, talented player.

He can play in several positions, is very fast and strong," said Nagelsmann after Bayern Munich's 1-0 draw in the friendly against Manchester City at the end of the trip to the USA on Saturday (local time).

"He can become one of the best strikers."

According to

tz

information, FC Bayern has agreed with Stade Rennes on a transfer from Tel.

The 17-year-old will sign a five-year contract with Munich and cost a transfer fee of up to 28.5 million euros.

Nagelsmann trusts the Sturmjuwel a lot, especially in the long term.

"He's not a 1-1 replacement for Lewy, that's normal at this age," he said, referring to the departure of striker Robert Lewandowski.

"We're trying to find young, talented players that we can develop into world-class players." He believes Tel "one day will score 40 goals a season" for the German record champions.

"But if he scores ten goals this season, we'll all be happy."

In Munich it is hoped that the youngster will come to Munich for a medical check-up on Sunday, his contract will be signed on Monday and the first training session with the team on Tuesday.

FC Bayern commits Tel

A lot of money for a striker who has only played 49 minutes in Ligue 1 so far.

Tel also played 15 minutes in two games in the Conference League.

Tel wanted to join Bayern early on, but Rennes President Jacques Delanoë is considered a tough negotiator, which is why the transfer negotiations took so long.

However, the Bayern bosses are apparently so convinced of Tel and trust him with a great career in the coming years, which is why FCB is willing to invest a lot of money for him.

Internally, Tel is seen as a talent similar to PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé.

So far, FC Bayern has already spent almost 125 million on Ryan Gravenberch (25 million), Noussair Mazraoui (free transfer), Sadio Mané (32 million plus bonuses) and Matthijs de Ligt (67.5 million plus bonuses).

Now a few more are added for Tel.
