Another medal in judo: bronze for Robert Sorkin at the European Youth Olympic Festival Israel today

The judoka (up to 66 kg) got on the podium following a technical victory over an Azeri opponent • Team coach, Oren Samadja: "It is important for us to have continuity and consistency in all age categories"

The cadet judo team athlete, Robert Sorkin, won the bronze medal tonight (Wednesday) in the weight category up to 66 kg at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Slovakia. 

Sorkin, who won bronze at the 2021 European Under-18 Championship in a competition held in Latvia, began the day of fights with a loss in the Golden Score in the first round against the Slovenian Tobias Forrest Kartanch and from there dropped to the consolation bracket.  

In the first bout at the consolation house, he beat Latvia's Pavels Wisnovs in Ipon, followed it up with a victory in Vasari over France's Killian Noel, and then beat Denmark's Alti R.

In the battle for bronze, he was awarded a technical victory after his Azeri opponent, Altaj Yoshpili, fainted earlier in the semi-final fight.

Oren Samadja, the coach of the men's team said: "We are very happy about the second medal in the competition, yesterday Roy Rubinstein won and today Robert joins us who previously won a bronze medal in the European Cadet Championship. It is important for us to have continuity and consistency in all age categories, to see the results of the hard work and The future generation continues to get medals from Matra competitions."
