Summary of Maccabi Haifa's 0:4 over Olympiakos in Greece (Sport1)
Maccabi Haifa completed the surprise against Olympiakos in Greece this evening (Wednesday) and qualified for the third qualifying round of the Champions League, where they will meet Apollon Limassol of Cyprus.
A third-ever appearance in the group stage of the Champions League is still the dream, and is now closer, but a group stage of some kind was guaranteed anyway and with it financial rewards of over €3 million.
The greens' European season will last at least until the World Cup.
Next week Maccabi Haifa will host Apollon and a week later they will visit Zirio Stadium in Limassol, but already this coming Monday, even before the first game, the playoff draw will be held in which the Israeli champion will not be ranked.
The meaning: a possible meeting with Copenhagen, Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrade or Viktoria Plzen.
The first awaits in the playoffs, the others have to make it through the third round.
If Maccabi Haifa is eliminated by Apollon Limassol, it will be relegated to the playoff stage of the Europa League.
If you lose there as well, you will fall into the third group of UEFA and participate for the second year in a row in the group stage of the Conference League. So there is already a group stage, the only question is which one.
A long European season awaits him.

Apollon Limassol did indeed win the Cyprus championship last season, but on paper it is a comfortable draw - certainly more than Franzvarous or Sloven Bratislava, which Maccabi Haifa would have met if they had lost in Greece.
Apollon was crowned champion last season for the first time after 16 years and has a total of four championships and is not considered one of the greats of the neighboring island - unlike Apollon, Omonia Nicosia and Anorthosis Famagusta.
Unlike them, it has also never met an Israeli opponent in the UEFA factories, although in the previous decade it recorded a good success with four appearances in the houses of the European League.
The team is coached by the German Alexander Zurniger, who previously stood on the lines of Brondby, Stuttgart and RB Leipzig ( (in the lower leagues). This week midfielder Ido Shahar officially signed, becoming the fifth Israeli in the club's history. He was preceded by Lior Assolin, Moshe Mishalov, Baruch Degu and coach Yossi Mizrahi. Guy Levy also agreed to coach the team in the summer of 2011, but did not get to coach it.
Apart from Shahar, Apollon added eight more new players during the summer, including the French stopper Mathieu Pavernes and the midfielder El Haji Ba who collaborated with Franzi Piero in Gangan.
Last season's top scorer was Cypriot winger Ioannis Pitas and the most valuable player in the squad is Hervin Onganda, ex-Paris Saint-Germain.
The Lebanese national team's midfielder Bassel Jaradi, who was born and raised in Denmark, also plays in the team and it will be interesting to see if he comes to Israel.
Other prominent names: the French striker Begali Dabo, the defender of the Moroccan national team Amin Hamas and the goalkeeper Alexander Jovanovic, who played in La Liga with Vosca.
