The jubilation after winning the championship at EHC Klostersee was huge.

Now it should go up to the premier league if the framework conditions for the ice hackers are right.

ICE HOCKEY EHC Klostersee also meets Italy's champions in Oberliga preparation

Grafing – A good four weeks before the start, EHC Klostersee announced its preparation program for the 2022/23 season in the Oberliga Süd.

"As always, we tried to put together a balanced and interesting mix of opponents for the test games, which also creates the best possible sporting conditions for the start of the league game," commented coach Dominik Quinlan on the agreed seven friendly comparisons before the third division start, which the German Ice Hockey Federation ( DEB) scheduled for Friday, September 30th.

It wasn't that easy to find "suitable opponents" after the decision to join the league with the acceptance of promotion was only made at the beginning of May.

"Most clubs have already arranged their preparatory games and hardly have any free appointments for the four weeks before the start of the championship," reported the head coach of the Grafinger Rot-Weißen.

According to reports, he would have liked to practice more against one or the other upper division club and even sent his boys onto the ice against a DEL2 club like Kaufbeuren, Landshut or newly promoted Regensburg.

Simply to see what still needs to be worked on.

"But let's not complain.

I think that the opponents fit well as well,” said Quinlan.

Specification of the DEB

The unequal ratio of home and away tests - the EHClers only practice twice on home ice - is due to unfortunate circumstances.

Both the preparatory start against TEV Miesbach (Friday, August 26th) and the comparison against EC Peiting (Friday, September 23rd) were actually planned in the Grafinger Eisstadion.

Both times, however, the Klosterseer team will play away from home.

At the new edition of the final in the Bayernliga playoffs in Miesbach, because a special company is bleaching the playing surface white on this very day.

Quinlan: "This is a requirement of the DEB and the commissioned company can only be there."

In the Peiting match, a communication error played a trick on the EHC.

That leaves the two home appearances against the ambitious Bavarian league club Erding Gladiators on Sunday, August 28th and the Oberliga duel against the Landsberg Riverkings on Friday, September 9th.

Guest appearances in Erding (Sunday, September 25) and at the Bayernliga club Königsbrunn Pinguine (Friday, September 16), which have also been upgraded enormously, have also been arranged.

Quinlan has fond memories of "Outing".

At the beginning of September, as in the previous year, the people of Klosterseer made a trip to South Tyrol.

On Friday, September 2nd, the EHC meets the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers again, a fusion team of the two clubs HC Neumarkt and SC Auer.

The opponent, based around 30 kilometers south of Bozen, is the reigning Italian champion and cup winner and will take part in the Austrian-Slovenian-Italian Alps Hockey League (AHL) next season.

"A sporting challenge and at the same time a nice opportunity to integrate the newcomers", Dominik Quinlan likes to remember last year's "excursion".

One more day was set aside for “team building” this time – we're not going back to Grafing until Sunday afternoon.
