The list of items prohibited in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 stadiums is growing.
In its new regulations, the Professional Football League (LFP) now indicates that all containers will no longer be authorized in sports arenas.
Plastic bottles, allowed last year by removing the cap, are now prohibited.
From the 2022-2023 season, which begins this weekend for Ligue 2 and the one after for the elite, all containers are prohibited, from glass bottles to cans, including corked water bottles.
Drinks served in reusable cups
This new measure completes an ecological concern for professional football, but it also and above all aims to avoid accidents and untimely interruptions to matches due to the bad behavior of supporters.
Plastic bottles are likely to be used as projectiles towards the lawn explains the LFP, as was regularly the case last season, especially during the Olympico in Lyon when the match was interrupted for a bottle throwing of water on Marseille captain Dimitri Payet at the corner.
Drinks sold by stadium refreshments will be served in reusable or cardboard cups.
