German driver Sebastian Vettel has announced the end of his career at the end of the season.

On an Instagram account he created last night especially for the occasion, the quadruple world champion posted a black and white video in which he explains: "The decision to retire was difficult for me, and I spent a lot of time thinking about it.

(…) But today, it is not a question of saying goodbye, it is rather a question of saying thank you, to everyone, and in particular to the fans and their passionate support without whom Formula 1 could not exist .

At 35, the Aston Martin driver has changed his life goals: “My goal has changed from winning races to seeing my children grow up”.

Sebastian Vettel is the father of three children aged 3 to 8 years old.

"At the end of the year, it's very clear to me that as a father, I want to spend more time with my family," he explained.

His farewell for the 300th Grand Prix of his career

His team promises him "a fabulous farewell" during his last participation in a race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2022 in November, the 300th Grand Prix of his rich career.

Sebastian Vettel marked the history of his sport, present on the circuit for 15 years, becoming the 4th most successful in the World Championship, winning 4 titles consecutively from 2010 to 2013.
