After building the squad very quickly already at the beginning of the summer, Maccabi Tel Aviv also found an assistant coach: the Yellows announced the appointment of Josep Maria Brokal, who concluded for the season and will serve as Oded Ketch's senior assistant coach.

The 52-year-old experienced coach previously worked alongside Sebastislav Pašić, Duško Ivanović, Xavi Pascual and Giorgos Bartzoukas, among others, and also served as the head coach of Menorca, Donetsk, Eskişehir, Estudiantes and Club Basket Prat.

Oded Ketch spoke with Brokal at length before the decision to join.

The assistant coach, who is considered to be defensively oriented, is considered to be especially well-liked by some of the senior players who worked under him, including Ricky Rubio and Tocco Shenglia.

In addition, Maccabi Tel Aviv is in contact with Doron Perkins, who is not under contract, but may stay.

"We are happy to add a very experienced assistant coach, who knows European basketball very well," said head coach Oded Ketch.

"He is a coach under whom leading players trained and was a significant part of winning teams. He is an impressive man who believes in teamwork and I have no doubt that he will add a lot to us"

Maccabi Tel Aviv has recently been in contact with a number of senior American candidates, but were unable to attach any of them as a senior assistant.

Brokal will not be the only foreign assistant in the system, as the club is determined to bring in another American assistant, in a less significant position, since the team has eight American foreigners and two more naturalized.

Among Brucal's achievements, you can find two Euroleague cups, four championships and three Spanish Cups, the Ukrainian championship, a league promotion with Menorca and also appearances as a coach in the All-Star games of Ukraine and Turkey.
