Swimming: Adam from Ra'ana set the criteria for the European Championships Israel today

The 19-year-old Israeli set a time of 54.78, which also earned him the title of Israeli champion. Maccabi Haifa was crowned the champion of Israel in the group score


The Israel Swimming Championships closed tonight (Saturday) at the national pool at the Wingate Institute, with an additional criterion for the European Championships set by Adam Maraena in the 100 backstroke, and with a second championship in a row for Maccabi Haifa, who won all three team titles - the women's championship, the men's championship and the overall championship. 

The 19-year-old Maraena already set a faster time than the criterion in the morning with an impressive personal record of 54.54 and in the evening he confirmed it as required with 54.78, which also earned him the title of champion of Israel, ahead of Olympian Michael Leitrovsky (55.00 s).

Maraena is the 14th swimmer to secure his place in the delegation to the championships in Rome, which will be his second senior championship in his career.

In the women's parallel stroke, Aviv Barzali won with 1:01.62 d.

In the 50 freestyle, the gold went to Miron Haruti and Daria Golovati.

Miron won with 22.19 seconds ahead of Ziv Klontrov and Martin Kartabi, while Daria won with 26.01 seconds, ahead of Hadar Karp and Jessica Spilko.

In the 200 individual medley, Yaakov Tomarkin was crowned champion of Israel, with 2:02.09 d, 8 hundredths ahead of Eitan Ben Shatrit.

In the women's category, Nega Zilberberg won, who was four hundredths ahead of Keren Eisbruch.

In the 800 freestyle we again got a fascinating duel between Orin Gebelan and Eva Fabian, and after Orin won the 400 and Eva the 1,500, it was again Orin's turn to touch first with 9:01.03 minutes, 18 hundredths ahead of her opponent.

For the men, Yonatan Ahadot won with 8:12.34, ahead of Khalil Halevi and Maor Goralnik.

For dessert, Maccabi Haifa won the 4x100 mixed relay for the women and men with 4:19.72 minutes and 3:44.71 minutes respectively.

At the end of the competition, Maccabi Haifa was crowned as Israel's champion in the group score, ahead of Hapoel Bat Yam and Hapoel Jerusalem.

The youth championship was won by Hapoel Kfar Saba, before Hapoel Dolphin Netanya and Maccabi Kfar Maccabiah.

The title of the outstanding swimmers of the competition was won by Anastasia Gorbenko and Miron Haruti, with Gorbenko also signing the quality result of the competition for the 50 breaststroke together with Michael Leitrovsky in the 50 backstroke.
