Olympic champion Laura Ludwig and the previous world-class indoor player Louisa Lippmann want to form a duo in beach volleyball in the future.

The two announced this on Saturday evening in ZDF's "Aktuelles Sportstudio".

There has recently been speculation about a collaboration between the two with a view to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

After the birth of her second child in May, 36-year-old Ludwig first has to get fit again. In mid-August, 27-year-old Lippmann will gain initial experience in the sand with Ludwig's former partner Kira Walkenhorst at the European Championships.

She ended her career in the hall three months ago.

Ludwig explained that they are currently not expecting to play tournaments together this year.

"If everything goes tip-top, maybe," she added.

First they had to find each other, the two explained.

"It's certainly not all worked out one hundred percent as to how it's supposed to work in the next two and a half years," said Ludwig.

When she switched to beach volleyball, Lippmann said she had great respect for learning that and for working with Ludwig.

"Of course I take Laura as a model, so Laura is a leader in our team," she said.

Laura Ludwig won the gold medal together with Kira Walkenhorst at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, and a year later the duo also became world champions.

Ludwig and Walkenhorst took first place in the election for Team of the Year in 2016 and 2017.

With her new partner Margareta Kozuch, Ludwig finished fifth at the Olympics in Tokyo in the summer.

Louisa Lippmann was Germany's best indoor volleyball player so far.

The 1.91 meter diagonal attacker was one of the best in her position.

After the Bundesliga stations in Münster, Dresden and Schwerin, she moved abroad for the first time in 2018.

She played in Florence, Shanghai Volley and Russian champions Lokmomotive Kaliningrad before winning the European Challenge Cup with Italian giants Savino Del Bene Scandicci in 2022.

At the end of April she announced her retirement from the national team before announcing her move to the beach.
