The Israeli artistic swimmer Yogev Dagan won the bronze medal today (Sunday) at the European U15 Artistic Swimming Championship, which is held in France.
Dagan, who already last year made history as the first man ever to participate in a group exercise at the European Championships, this year advanced another step and became the first Israeli man on the podium at the Continental Championships.
Yogev earned a score of 74.6667 points for his solo free exercise and was ahead of the Spanish swimmer Aguilar Sanchez in the battle for the medal, with the gold being won by the Frenchman Luca Vallicioni and the silver by the Italian Filippo Plati (in total, 4 swimmers participated in the exercise for boys).
In the corresponding exercise for girls, the Israeli Alexandra Lerman finished sixth in the free exercise with a score of 76.7 points in the final, and finished ninth in the weighting of the compulsory exercises.
In the free combo exercise, the team finished in fourth place with a score of 77.6333 points, when Lerman and Dagan teamed up for the exercise with Maria Dyachenko, Netta Frankel, Aya Mazor, Noa Mizrahi, Shaya Sher Shalom Nichmad, Michelle Stroge, Noga Levy and Sofia Akutin.
In the free group exercise, Israel finished in sixth place with a score of 76.8333 points.
The team is led by coaches Valeria Aprileva, Sasha Kunin and Eti Levy.
The judges who represent Israel in the competition are Svetlana Krupkin and Zhana Ladenev.
