On the day of the European Championship final between the DFB women and the English women, the German men's team made a supportive post on social media.

London - "Dear Poppi, dear team" begins the open letter addressed by the DFB men to the eleven around captain Alexandra Popp.

The "other team", as the men call themselves at the end of the post, is keeping their fingers crossed at the European Championship final and deliberately takes a back seat.

DFB men: "We are proud of you"

The national team meets the English women on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the legendary Wembley Stadium in London and the DFB men are the 12th man behind Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team.

"We're proud of you," is the emotional message that's supposed to be conveyed.

Not as the 12th man, but as the 12th woman, Klara Bühl still wants to join her team.

"It's just fun to see you as a team and your games," not only agrees Hansi Flick's team, but also perfectly captures the mood among German football fans.

In the evening, not only football in Germany but also the male professionals should come together in front of the receivers and give the TV stations another record rating for games of the DFB women.

The gentlemen assure you: "You can be sure, we're rooting for you".

Men's national team deliberately take a step back

Clear message in the post: The focus should be on the women's team.

The men deliberately take a back seat, also in the visual language, and do not want to push themselves into the foreground.

Especially with regard to the venue - Wembley Stadium - a bit of humility is required for the men, after all they were eliminated against the English in the quarter-finals at last year's European Championships in London.

A hurdle that the women could easily overcome against Austria.

Last but not least, the men have a recommendation, coupled with a pious wish: "Enjoy it and reward yourself. We want to see you dance again." Where the fans follow the game, hopefully followed by a cabin party of the DFB-Elf, on TV you can find out here.
