Formula 1: Fernando Alonso leaves Alpine and will drive for Aston Martin in 2023

Fernando Alonso and Alpine, it's almost over.

The double Formula 1 world champion with Renault (2005, 2006) will leave the French team at the end of the season to take up the Aston Martin challenge in place of Sebastian Vettel, future retiree.

Back in Formula 1 in 2021 after a two-year hiatus, Alonso finished 10th in the last Drivers' World Championship with a podium finish (3rd at the Qatar GP).
