Despite fewer participants than expected, organizer Alois Portz was satisfied with this year's Hirschbachschleiferl in Kirchdorf.
Kirchdorf
– Many cherished traditions had to pause during Corona, but people kept running on the Hirschbachschleiferl.
The event in Kirchdorf could also be held during the pandemic with corona rules, but now the full fun is back.
This year Kirchdorf celebrated the citizens' festival and the runners got their audience back in the finish area.
However, this time the response was not as great as expected.
The 113 participants were well below the expectations of organizer Alois Portz.
"But we're still satisfied," says the organizer.
Alois Portz is a keen runner himself and knows what it takes to offer participants perfect conditions.
The Hirschbachschleiferl has been known for this for years and is popular with good runners as training under competition conditions.
The special feature of the 9.7-kilometre main run is the topography with around five kilometers of ascent.
When it then goes out of the forest back onto the asphalted surface, the athletes run downhill to the finish line.

"This is one big fight from start to finish," said Niklas Pfeiffer later, the fastest in the main race.
The TSV Jahn Freising athlete needed 36:08 minutes for the almost ten kilometers.
This put him in 22nd place in the all-time best list of running times.
He surprised himself a bit with his performance, “because I haven't run ten times this year”.
An injury to his shin and a corona infection slowed him down.
The 20-year-old from Marzling was therefore not thinking about winning, but "just wanted to achieve a reasonably good time", "but that was more than okay".
Lea Kunstmann made the double victory of TSV Jahn Freising perfect, who was four seconds faster than her teammate Victoria Schweiger in the women's race.
With 41:45 minutes, she improved her personal course record by two seconds in her second Kirchdorf triumph.
This was not planned at all, because Kunstmann took the Hirschbachschleiferl with him as a training run.
The change in goals came on the last climb: "I saw the first three women in front of me and thought that I would like to get on the podium." The 20-year-old Freisinger first took third place and then switched - with possible victory in mind - up a gear.
"At kilometer six, victory was the goal," says Kunstmann.
