A record number of 33 Paralympic sports have submitted applications to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to be included in the program for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
All international federations included in the program for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have applied, along with downhill, climbing, CP soccer, golf, karate, Paralympic dance, wheelchair soccer, sailing, surfing, wheelchair handball and beach volleyball.
During the summer the IPC will examine the applications according to its rulebook, and will send clarification notices if necessary.
The IPC will also work closely with the City of Los Angeles to analyze the industries' potential impact on the program.
A final decision on the sports that make up the sports program for the Sloven Angels 2028 Paralympic Games will be made by the IPC Board of Directors by the end of January 2023.
Colleen Wren, IPC Chief Executive of the Paralympic Games, said: "A record 33 applications to be part of the LA28 Paralympic Games sports program highlights the growing strength of sport within the Paralympic movement."
The Paralympic Games in LA28 will be held from August 15-27, 2028.
