Despite the disagreements of the past few weeks, Robert Lewandowski was emotional when he finally left Bayern Munich.
"I'm sad, but I can go on with a pure heart," said the Pole to Sky after he appeared again on Säbener Straße.
"I thanked everyone," said Lewandowski on his visit to Munich: "It was an emotional moment and also a difficult moment for me, it's not that easy." He will "always be grateful," "not just for what I won here, how I played here, but also for what I experienced here.«
Sport director Hasan Salihamidžić said in a club statement: “Robert came to my office to say goodbye and we spoke again for 15 minutes.
I addressed everything, we settled everything.
Robert has achieved great things for FC Bayern, that should be remembered.«
After eight years at Bayern Munich and weeks of transfer theater, Lewandowski switched to FC Barcelona two weeks ago.
The Catalans paid 45 million euros for the Polish international, whose contract in Munich had one year left.
Previously, he had repeatedly set tips against Munich.
Most recently, in an interview with ESPN, the star striker accused his ex-club of lying and claimed that "bullshit" had been said about him.
Salihamidžić then said on Bild-TV: "I can't understand it at all.
My dad taught me that when you leave, you never shut the door with your butt.
Robert is well on his way to doing just that.”
Lewandowski is forgiving
These discrepancies should now be cleared up.
"Everything is okay.
I met everyone and thanked them for everything," said Lewandowski: "The last few weeks have been a bit complicated for everyone.
Still, I will never forget what has happened here for the past eight years.«
Lewandowski was last on a US tour with FC Barcelona.
The two-time world footballer will play his first league game with his new club against Rayo Vallecano in a week on Saturday.
