Königsdorf - Johann Lenz is the new German judo champion in the class up to 90 kilograms.
The 22-year-old from TSV Großhadern started as the favorite in the individual competitions for women and men in Stuttgart.
After three bronze medals and one silver medal, which he had won at previous German championships, he put himself under pressure.
Because this time it should be gold.
Knee injury recovered
Although the man from Königsdorf had just recovered from a knee injury, he felt fit and mentally strong that day.
Lenz lived up to his role as favourite, won all his fights early and fought his way confidently to the final.
There he didn't give his opponent Gabriel Berg (Leverkusen) a chance and, after third place last year, now clinched the title.
Also represented in the national squad
In addition, the medical student from Schönrain underlined his position in the national squad and proved that he had impressively made the leap from the U23 age group to the men.
