Summary: Hapoel Tel Aviv - Maccabi Tel Aviv 2:0 (Sport1)
If you've ever wondered how the soccer and basketball fans in Israel manage to bring pyrotechnic devices into the stadiums despite the strict police checks that are usually carried out outside them, the answer may lie precisely with the players - at least if we rely on the words of Gili Vermot last night (Monday) live.
The former footballer, who starred for Hapoel Tel Aviv and experienced the derby - probably the most charged game in Israel - also from the yellow side of Maccabi Tel Aviv, revealed during a broadcast on Sport1 channels that during his days in red Hapoel players would put pyrotechnics into Bloomfield Stadium and pass them to the fans in the stands.
Suspicions of such an "exercise" arose in the Israel Police during the last season as well.
A recent example was in the last basketball derby held last season, in the fourth game of the quarter-final playoff series between Hapoel and Maccabi Tel Aviv, when the members of the Red Club were taken out of their home stadium by the police in order to locate flares and other pyrotechnic devices, and this with only a few hours left before the start of the match.

The absurdity is that sports teams in Israel, especially soccer, appear in court almost every week and receive heavy fines as a result of fan riots, when the flare shows often cause significant delays at the start of games.
And while some clubs are investing a lot of resources and efforts in order to locate the object throwers and pyrotechnic lighters, including installing nets and using cameras, it turns out that it is possible that the players are apparently the ones who cooperate with the crowd and result in significant financial penalties against the teams.
