It has not been worth Betis qualifying twice in a row for Europe and winning the Cup in order not to suffer economic difficulties.

The Andalusian club already recognized in June a pressing debt of 30 million euros from last year.

At Betis they thought that with the sale of some players after a successful sporting year this debt would be paid off.

It has not been.

The offers that have come from footballers such as Fekir, William Carvalho or Álex Moreno do not satisfy the demands of the Verdiblanco managers.

Without important offers for its players, Betis also finds that its salary limit has been widely exceeded.

For this reason, at this time, he cannot register the signings for this season.

They are the Brazilians Luiz Henrique, Luiz Felipe and Willian José, for whom their purchase option with Real Sociedad was executed for 8.5 million euros.

He also cannot register the renewed Bravo, Guardado and Joaquín.

Betis, faced with the need to obtain extra money to sign and register these players, has also decided to organize its own financial lever, as Barcelona has done throughout the summer.

Without the tremendous commercial capacity of the Catalan team, and without touching some television rights already partially mortgaged through LaLiga with the CVC fund, Betis has sought a new fishing ground of value to be able to pawn, its enormous social mass.

In this way, if the desired sales do not arrive, Betis has reached an agreement with an investment fund to sell a percentage of its subscription and ticket rights for the next five years, according to

Relevo

and confirmed by this newspaper.

Betis announced precisely this Tuesday that it has reached 60,000 members, of which 50,000 will have a seat at the Benito Villamarín.

The partners will provide this course to Betis 17.5 million euros.

To this figure must be added what is obtained from ticket sales, which is expected to be higher than the 7.5 million achieved last season, in which there were still restrictions on the entry of fans due to the coronavirus pandemic. something that was noticed, for example, during Real Madrid's visit to Heliopolis.

The goal of the emotional lever is to raise 20 million this August.

To this figure would be added some sales that would allow reaching the 30 million necessary to register the signings and the renewed players.

In addition, the squad could be closed with some of the operations that the club is outlining, such as those of Dani Ceballos, Aouar or Héctor Bellerín.

Betis, as is the case with Barcelona, need the approval of LaLiga to execute this lever.

In principle, the first contacts between the Betis leadership and the employers' association have been positive in this sense.

Ángel Haro, the Verdiblanco president, maintains very good relations with Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga.

Haro worked with Tebas for the arrival in Spanish football of the CVC investment fund.

What has happened is that Betis already spent last year everything that corresponded to it for its first team through the agreement by which, like almost all the First and Second clubs, it gave up a percentage of the rights in exchange for money television for 50 years.

“We exhausted the CVC fund last year in terms of investment in transfers,” acknowledge Betis sources.

Capitalizing on subscription revenue is an opportunity for a club like Betis, with a very large and fairly loyal social mass.

According to data from the

Transfermarkt

website , the Andalusian team was fourth in terms of partners in the entire League last season, only surpassed by Barcelona, Atlético and Real Madrid.

In addition, the price of the subscriptions is the exclusive responsibility of the clubs, as well as the amount of the tickets.

If Betis needed it, they would increase the price of subscriptions and trust that their faithful infantry would show their faces again.

The same does not happen with television rights, which are sold jointly and under the umbrella of LaLiga, which negotiates on behalf of all the clubs.

For Betis, the jewel is its people.
