Ashdod signed up Peka Polo, who played in Barcelona B and three years ago was considered one of the strikers with the greatest potential in Spain, for the Toto Cup match against Sektia Nes Ziona tonight (Wednesday, 20:00, Sport1).
Peka landed in Israel a few days ago with the intention of going outside of Spain and having other experiences in football.
The 21-year-old Spaniard plays as a central striker and grew up in the youth department of Badalona near Barcelona.
In the under-19 team, he was the outstanding scorer in the league in which Barcelona and Espanyol played, among others, and the Blaugrana decided to purchase him.
He played in Barcelona's youth team alongside Ilash Moriba and Anso Fati and later moved to Barcelona B where he played with names like Gabi and Nico.
When he coached Barcelona, Ronald Koeman took him to a number of first team training sessions and kept an eye on him before he left the club.
In the 2018/19 season he played with the youth team of Barca that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and scored 0:2 against Inter away in the group stage.
The goal, by the way, was cooked for him by Patty.
Last season he made 22 appearances for Barcelona B in the third division in Spain and found the back of the net once.

Peka has been training in Ashdod for a few days and the club prepared a game shirt for him yesterday so that he can play tonight at a tested standard in the team's first official game against Nes Ziona.
Ran Ben Shimon and his team are already very impressed by the player who conquers in training and the team will have to decide whether to sign the player who can tell in the team's dressing room about the young stars of Barcelona, the ones who are supposed to lead it to the big change planned by Juan Laforte next season.
