Six days of riding spectacle at Gut Kerschlach: Personal record, disappointed "Oh"

Final in front of a large audience: around 250 spectators came to the S* class with jump-off on the final day of the second tournament weekend.

There was something going on at Gut Kerschlach: there was plenty of equestrian sport for two weekends.

For the organizers, the event was also a risk after a long break due to Corona.

Gut Kerschlach – There was a special brand to celebrate for the comeback: For the 20th time, the Gut Kerschlach riding club organized competitions in dressage and jumping.

Due to Corona, the editions for 2020 and 2021 were canceled.

The forced breaks did not have any negative effects on the current tournament - the number of participants on the two consecutive weekends was high, well-known names from the Bavarian scene were guests.

Here is a special look at individual competitions.

Carolina Wechlser is happy about the record result

Dressage:

Some other horses dance around impatiently during the award ceremony, but "Carpe Diem" stands motionless.

And even after the obligatory lap of honor in the canter, the gelding remains calm himself - the souvenir photo away from the dressage arena was taken so easily.

It was also appropriate to photograph him with his rider, Carolina Wechsler.

Because it had never gone as well for the duo in an L* dressage rider test as it did this time.

The grade of 9.0 meant not only a sovereign victory, but also a personal record, which Wechsler was visibly happy about.

For the 15-year-old student, who is on the way to graduating from secondary school, the ride was not a home game, even though she lives in Pähl.

Because she and "Carpe Diem" ride for the RFV Ammersee and mostly train in Dießen.

The tournament site at Gut Kerschlach is unfamiliar for the horse, but it's no problem: Wechsler and the gelding, who have been a team for three years, regularly appear abroad as members of the Bayern squad in pony dressage.

They recently finished eighth at the Bavarian championship in Munich-Riem.

As a contrast, the atmosphere at Gut Kerschlach was good for her: "It's close by and it's nice and quiet." There were spectators, but there was no sign of the hustle and bustle around the arena.

Wechsler and “Carpe Diem” coped well with the high temperatures.

"You only notice that it was hot after the exam," she said with a smile.

The sporting highlight of the three days of dressage at Gut Kerschlach was the Inter-I test.

Romina Nieberle (LRFV Gennachtal) won there with "Free Willy" (71.9 percent).

Nieberle is the reigning Bavarian Vice Champion of the Young Riders and was recently appointed to the national squad.

Second place went to Alexandra Maier (RTG Neuhof-Epfach) with "Majestix W" (68.4), third place went to Laurenz Berger (RFV Weilheimer Pferdefreunde) on "Steamboat Willie" (67.6).

In the S* dressage for amateur riders, local hero Lara Arndt (RV Gut Kerschlach) was happy about fifth place and a loop with "Fiordiligi".

Audience suffers in S-jumping

The jumping:

The spectators suffered when the pole fell with a delay.

A many-voiced, disappointed "Oh" sounded across the course.

Julia Haarmann (RFV Weilheimer Pferdefreunde) apparently cleared obstacle nine in the advanced level (S*) show jumping test with "Miss Cornet", but the hindquarters touched.

The chance of a sting was gone for the Magnetsriederin.

Even with "Casta Diva" it just wasn't enough.

Verena Haller fared like Haarmann: The Huglfingerin came with "Count Edwards" and "Luftikus Brillant" despite a committed performance not without a knockdown over the up to 1.40 meter high obstacles.

Nobody from the district fought for victory in the highest test of the three-day show jumping tournament.

It was interesting nonetheless, in the end time decided the jump-off.

Lawrence Greene (RV Karlsfeld) was the absolute fastest with the mare "Harriet" with 32.55 seconds.

He won ahead of Rüdiger Renner (SRC Fünfseenland), who also remained flawless, with "Kikibellie" (39.71) and Christof Göbel (TG Schwaiganger) with "Nombrado" (44.39).

"I got a little lucky," Green said as he left the course.

On a steep jump, he and "Harriet" literally used magic to prevent a drop.

For Haarmann and Haller, the days at Gut Kerschlach were successful, despite missing the jump-off.

Both riders got numerous placings.

Among other things, Haller won a loop in advanced level jumping with “Count Edwards” in sixth place.

Haarmann received a gold ribbon with "Miss Cornet" (M* jumping) and with "Ariosa" (L jumping).

Things went well for Sofia Sirch from Fischen: six starts, six placings (including an A** victory) – that was her summary.

Riding club Gut Kerschlach draws a positive conclusion

Nathalie Hackauff, chairwoman of the Gut Kerschlach riding club, is “very satisfied” with the course of the two tournament weekends.

Nevertheless, the organization, with Max Pfender acting as tournament director, was no small matter after a two-year break.

"It was like a little restart," says Hackauff.

"We had to reposition ourselves internally."

About 30 helpers, the youngest ten years old, contributed to the success.

Many who have their horses in the stables at Gut Kerschlach lent a hand.

"It strengthens the sense of community," says Hackauff.

The good response from the spectators "made us very happy," says the RV chairman.

About 250 visitors attended the S-jumping on the last day alone.

According to Hackauff, “good sport” was offered on the six days of competition.

Professionals had also come, which was already evident in the parking lots: there were impressive, multi-axle horseboxes with an integrated living area.

Professionals at tournaments attach great importance to the surfaces of the riding arenas.

In that regard, "we've heard some compliments," reports Hackauff.

When it came to “digitization”, the organizers took a step forward: For the first time, a large scoreboard was used to show spectators and riders the results and intermediate results.

Flyers and messengers, who have to bring the results from the judges' houses to the tournament management, are no longer necessary.

The effort "was definitely worth it," says Hackauff.
