He was one of Bayern's top players last season.
And it gains in value again - for a special reason.
Last season, Nick Weiler-Babb was the key player in the FC Bayern basketball team, not least because of his versatility.
Now the importance of the native Texan for the team of coach Andrea Trinchieri should increase significantly again.
According to Munich officials, Weiler-Babb's application for naturalization was approved.
As a result, the 26-year-old, who also has German ancestors in his family, is no longer included in Bayern's foreigner contingent and can therefore also be used without restrictions in the Bundesliga.
The Munich team currently has six German professional players under contract for the new season, which begins at the beginning of October - including the young talents Kalu and Sillah, it would even be eight.
Weiler-Babb's advance was apparently also strongly supported by the German Basketball Association (DBB).
It remains to be seen what conclusions the association will now draw from the positive decision.
Theoretically, the Bayern professional would now also be available for the selection of national coach Gordon Herbert.
