Chelsea pay big for Brighton's Cucurella

Chelsea have signed left-back Marc Cucurella from league rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to media reports, the 24-year-old Spaniard is coming to Stamford Bridge for a transfer fee of the equivalent of 65 million euros plus a possible eight million euros in bonuses to the club of German coach Thomas Tuchel.

Brighton spoke of a "record transfer fee".

"It's a great opportunity for me to join one of the best clubs in the world," said the Spaniard, according to a club statement on Friday.

Cucurella had long been associated with Manchester City, but star coach Pep Guardiola's club was reportedly unwilling to pay more than 50 million euros.

Cucurella had played a strong season and had been voted Player of the Year by Brighton fans and fellow players alike.

Only the year before he moved from Getafe FC to England for 18 million euros.

Cucurella has signed a six-year contract with Chelsea.

Schalke strengthened with Larsson scion

FC Schalke 04 have signed the son of former Swedish soccer star Henrik Larsson.

25-year-old Jordan Larsson is moving to the Bundesliga club from Gelsenkirchen on a free transfer and will receive a contract there until the end of the 2024/25 season.

"Jordan convinced us in the talks that he was very keen on Schalke 04 and our common mission to stay in the league," Schalke's sporting director Rouven Schröder said about the striker, according to the club's statement on Friday.

Larsson last played on loan from Spartak Moscow for AIK Solna in his home country.

With his contract with Spartak, for whom he failed to score in 17 games last season, terminated, Larsson was able to join on a free transfer.

In the 2020/21 season he had scored 15 times in 29 league games.

Klünter moves to Bielefeld

Bundesliga relegated Arminia Bielefeld has signed Lukas Klünter, who last played for Bundesliga side Hertha BSC, on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old has been without a contract since the summer.

One is happy »that Lukas decided to come to us in Bielefeld and thus signaled that he would like to follow our path.

He is experienced, extremely fast and can be used flexibly on the right side," said Bielefeld's sporting director Samir Arabi.

Barcelona ahead of Alonso transfer

In the course of Cucurella's commitment, Chelsea FC could clear the way for a departure: According to Spanish and English media reports, Marcos Alonso's long-awaited move to FC Barcelona is imminent.

The 31-year-old Spaniard, like compatriot Cucurella, plays on the left defensive flank and will probably no longer be needed in Thomas Tuchel's team.

Alonso is set to sign a two-year contract with the Catalans.

Onana probably to Everton – ex-Hamburger already at the medical check

Amadou Onana's career continues to pick up speed: the 20-year-old defensive midfielder, who made his debut for Belgium in June, is facing a move to the Premier League.

Contrary to what was recently rumored by "L'Equipe", the OSC Lille professional will probably not switch to West Ham United, but to league competitor FC Everton.

This is reported, among other things, by “Sky Sports News”.

The 1.95 meter tall top talent is said to be present for the Toffees' first game of the season at Goodison Park.

Onana is expected to sign a contract until 2027.

The transfer fee could amount to up to 40 million euros.

Hamburger SV would also benefit from this: Onana had moved from the north Germans to Lille in 2021,
