Nikola Vujic: "We reduced the dependence on one player" | Israel today

Maccabi Tel Aviv changed its face in many ways during this summer.

A broad professional committee was formed, extensive plowing work was done, many players were released and others were signed.

As of this writing, Oded Ketch and his team will have ten basketball players who were not on the roster last season, along with four who continue. 

The long-time professional manager Nikola Vycic told before the start of the season in an interview on the official website of Maccabi Tel Aviv about the construction of the squad: "We wanted good character, guys who would withstand the pressure."

"Experience and character, these are two things we were looking for. We also wanted players who are hungry for success on the biggest stage. Of course we had to bring in talented players who could be the future of the EuroLeague like Bonzie Coulson and Jeral Martin, who have not played in the factory before and in our opinion can make a difference." 

The Croatian talked about the new guard position: "In the summer we managed to connect players who can play in the 1-2 positions like Baldwin and Lorenzo, who are also able to play together. With Hollins and Hilliard we got more depth to raise more formations and reduce the dependence on a certain player or formation. We have an excellent attacking formation , players who keep excellently and can keep up with a high pace of play."

About Guy Panini, who is returning to the yellow uniform after 5 years, Vycic said: "Guy is known as a great player and can bring experience and influence in the dressing room. He can bring back a winning touch with him. Of course, he is a more mature player today and with his experience he will be able to help a lot in all kinds of situations that develop during such a long season."
