FC Bayern II started the season with three wins and one bankruptcy.

Groundbreaking games await the U23s in the coming weeks.

Munich – Matchdays five, six and seven are tough for the U23s from Munich.

On Sunday, Martin Demichelis and his talents travel to second-placed Viktoria Aschaffenburg.

A week later, the S-Bahn derby at SpVgg Unterhaching is on the agenda, before 1. FC Schweinfurt, the next top team in the Bavarian regional league, awaits in the Grünwalder stadium on August 19.

There is a lot at stake for the young Reds and their coaches in these three games, after the U23s blundered in the away game at SpVgg Ansbach on the 2nd matchday and lost 2-0.

If FC Bayern reserves lose all three duels against their direct competitors, Demichelis and his players may need binoculars before September 1st to see the top of the table.

As head coach of FC Bayern II, Martin Demichelis missed the goal for the season twice

It could also be uncomfortable for the ex-world-class defender, whose contract at Säbener Straße expires next summer.

He has been in charge of the small Bavarians since April 2021.

On the 30th matchday of the 3rd division, he took over the team from NLZ manager Jochen Seitz on a non-relegation zone.

Eight games (four draws and four defeats) later, relegation to the regional league was certain.

The direct resurgence was planned, but in the past season there was no getting past SpVgg Bayreuth.

At the latest after the 0: 4 in mid-April at the later champions and promoted team - again like on his debut eight games before the end of the season - the dream of returning to the 3rd division was over.

If it was the last eight matchdays in the two previous seasons, the Argentinian and his team could fall behind after just eight rounds this year.

FC Bayern II must improve in three top games in the coming weeks

If you look at the last two victories against Türkgücü Munich and at DJK Vilzing, things are not going well for the record champions' regional league team.

Against their city rivals, the U23s turned the game around in the final phase after falling behind twice.

Against the strong climber it was again no walk in the park.

Younes Aitamer only redeemed Bayern's second team in the 80th minute - before that Vilzing had equalized twice.

After the difficult 3-2 win, the 41-year-old complained about the lack of staff: "Our squad is not only young, it's also too small," says Demichelis.

In the storm, there could be a new option for the 2014 vice world champion against Aschaffenburg: 29-year-old Désiré Segbé, friend of world star Sadio Mané, has moved to the Isar and is supposed to strengthen FC Bayern's second team.
