The yellow-blacks open the season with an intriguing home game against Leverkusen.

The host will miss the injured Niklas Zola, and of course also Sebastian Haller, who was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his testicles and will undergo chemotherapy treatments.

The runner-up hopes not to get into trouble against the rival from West Germany, who survived in the Bundesliga right in the final round of the past season.

The guest will be missing Florian Wirtz who suffered a serious knee injury in the middle of the past season and has not yet recovered.

Borussia Monchengladbach - Hoffenheim 1:3

Both teams opened the season with a victory in the German Cup and advanced to the second round, but while the hosts celebrated with nine at the expense of the modest Oberkern from the lower leagues, Hoffenheim had to survive 120 tense minutes against Rodinghausen, when only two very late goals in the 115th and 118th minutes settled Mons Davor and his friends instead of the next step.

The Israeli striker who retired from the national team recently and barely played last season, once again sat on the bench for 90 minutes and saw his teammates fall behind very early due to two quick yellow cards by Stefan Poche (15 and 19).

With ten men it was a matter of time before Gladbach broke the deadlock and Robert Skov did so in the 25th minute.

Rami Bensbaini managed to equalize three minutes before the break with a beautiful cross, but Marcus Toram took advantage of a pass by Flaa (71) and Niko Albadi there to seal the victory for the hosts.

Union Berlin - Hertha Berlin 1:3

The two representatives of the German capital opened the season in a derby game, and after a great season last year, Union opened the new season perfectly with a one-sided performance.

Jordan Sibacho, the striker who arrived this summer from Young Boys, opened the floodgates in the 32nd minute.

After the break, Raldo Becker doubled (50) and Robin Kanuka completed the blitz in four minutes (54).

Dodi Lukebakio only shrunk (85) but Hertha, the top team of the city that was almost relegated last season, opens a new season in a very disappointing way.

Other games:

Augsburg - Freiburg 4:0

for Freiburg: Michael Gregorich (46), Vincenzo Griffo (48), Matthias Gunter (61), Ritsu Duhan (79).

Bochum - Mainz 2:1

For Bochum: Kevin Stöger (39), for Mainz: Karim Onishio (26 and 77).
