The first outing of the Blues of Vincent Collet ended in a nice walk of health against the Netherlands (89-65) this Sunday in Rouen.

A week after the start of their preparation for the Eurobasket which will take place in Germany from September 1, Vincent Collet's players played their first preparation match.

This Sunday, at the KinderArena in Rouen, the Blues with their brand new captain Evan Fournier won quite easily against the Netherlands (89-65).

“As in all the first games, there were good things and there are others to work on.

We have a first half a little below but we improve in the second with a generally good state of mind.

We still have to do better, especially at the defensive level, ”analyzes Vincent Collet at the microphone of beIN Sports.

Not bad for a first preparation game 😎

Already deprived of Victor Wembanyama and Andrew Albicy, injured before the rally of the France team, Vincent Collet had to compose without Moustapha Fall, hit in the thigh, this week.

Thus, he proposed a starting five composed of Thomas Heurtel, the most capped player with 84 selections, Evan Fournier, Thimothée Luwawu-Cabarrot, Guerschon Yabusele and Rudy Gobert.

It is also the latter who scores the first basket on a beautiful service from Thomas Heurtel.

After the first quarter, the French took the lead (25-20).

With Rudy Gobert, still unstoppable, the Blues further increased their lead at the break (45-39).

As soon as the recovery, the Blues put the turbo with an unleashed Evan Fournier.

The Netherlands are no longer doing well and see the three-point baskets paraded.

At the end of the third quarter, probably the most accomplished, the Blues have already secured victory by leading by twenty points (71-51).

Serious and diligent, Evan Fournier and his friends finally won 89-65.

“First encounters are not always easy.

We lacked rhythm, there was a lot of waste but there were also some interesting things, especially from the newcomers.

We will continue to build together, ”said Evan Fournier at the microphone of BeIN Sports.

A feeling shared by Rudy Gobert: “There are still things to correct but it was a pleasure to play here after a good week of training.

This is the start of a big prep.

We have to get back to good habits, in the first half it took us a while to get into it, in the second half we were more aggressive.
