Less than two years before the Olympic Games in Paris, the Judo Association, in cooperation with the national coaches, Oren Samadja and Shani Hershko, decided to take part this year in the team competition at the World Championship that will open on October 6 in Tashkent.
Remember, last year, the team won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, in the special competition, in which both women and men participate.
Since the competition also appeared at the World Championship in 2017, this will be the first time that Israel will also take part in it.
Although the full lists of participants have not yet been published, Israel is expected to send a squad of 15-16 athletes in total in men and women, with two athletes in blue and white in several weight categories.
As of today, Israel is ranked 11th in the world in the national ranking, after adding up all the results of the active athletes, with Japan leading the way as expected, followed by Russia, France, Brazil, Germany, Korea and the Netherlands.
