TuS gets caught twice

In the 1:4 defeat against Unterföhring, the Geretsried footballers had almost no chance and have now slipped to the bottom of the table in the Landesliga Southeast.

Geretsried – The first shock for the Geretsried footballers was not long in coming.

Only five minutes had been played when TuS had to run behind against FC Unterföhring.

When Tayfun Arkadas shot, the Geretsried defender lacked disruptive action and keeper Simon Voß failed to react.

"We weren't awake and too scared then," criticized assistant coach Daniel Dittmann after the 1:4 (1:1) defeat.

At least for TuS goalkeeper Voß, the early impact had a rousing effect.

A little later, he appeared twice within two minutes of shots by FC striker Bastian Fischer and in the 23rd minute deflected an Arkadas free-kick over the bar.

In between there were more chances for the guests, but Fischer once again missed openly in front of goal, as did Sali Aliji.

Voß would have been powerless in the 30th minute when Arkadas hit the post with another free kick.

Robin Renger, the most conspicuous player on the hosts' side in a positive sense, did better: After a foul on TuS attacker Sebastian Schrills, he curled the ball perfectly over the wall into the angle to a flattering 1-1 break.

"We had planned to be mentally better in the second half, we wanted to be the masters of the house," Dittmann revealed excerpts from the dressing room speech.

Good intentions remained.

A minute after the restart there was already confusion in the Geretsried penalty area.

When trying to get a cross ball out of the danger zone, an attacker from Unterföhring stood in the way - the referee credited TuS captain Schrills with the hit as an own goal.

“A goal like that obviously hurts,” admitted Dittmann.

Ten minutes later, the hosts unsuccessfully claimed an offside position, but referee Maximilian Großmann declared Aliji's header legal to make it 1-1.

At this point there were no longer any two opinions about the winner.

Taso Karpouzidis and Fabijan Podunavac came on for Anton Berger and Sebastian Schrills, but before the fresh forces could take effect, Bastian Fischer headed a free kick extended by Nils Ehrlicht over the line.

"I'm back" cheered last year's top scorer.

"I think we had great energy on the pitch today and were great in the game for long stretches.

Unfortunately, we didn't manage to create more chances in the second half," said TuS assistant Dittmann.

However, the 22-year-old had identified his team's biggest problem: "Defending the box didn't always work that way."
