The district classist is going into the new season without ex-coach Wennrich and sporting director Stangl

Isen – When TSV Isen starts the new season in Berglern on Sunday (see report on page 10), two veterans will no longer be there: the long-standing sporting director Tobias Stangl and the former player-coach Tiemo Wennrich.

The now 34-year-old took over from Daniel Stangl and kept the TSV in the district class after promotion.

It was clear to him relatively quickly that the one year as a coach would remain for the time being.

Wennrich.

"I already made the decision at the end of the winter preparations." The main reason: the lack of time.

Wennrich now lives in Munich, works in the energy sector and is currently leading “a project with hydrogen”, as he explains.

But the Isener also lets us know: "If the framework conditions had been absolutely perfect, I might have tried it again anyway." But parts of the team hadn't been quite as involved in the preparation as he had imagined.

"This in combination with my work then led me to my decision."

At the request of the club, the decision was only made public after the season.

TSV would have liked to continue working with the 34-year-old.

This is also clear from the press release that the club issued in mid-July.

The outgoing coach did a great job.

“With him we are losing a highly deserving sportsman who has put himself in the service of the team often enough.

We can't thank Tiemo enough," Manfred Grosse, who was head of the football department until May, is quoted as saying.

His successor Oliver Schmid adds: "Staying up in the league in this intensive class under the most difficult conditions deserves the greatest respect."

Is there a future as a player?

"I quit," he tells the local newspaper.

The passport is still in Isen, "but I'm not committed to anything," explains Wennrich and adds.

"But I'm not ruling anything out either." Only one thing is clear.

"I've always focused on football, of course also when planning my vacation." He doesn't want to do that anymore in the future, especially since his girlfriend, as a teacher, is tied to the holidays.

Grosse is certain: "As a boy from Isen, we know that he won't let TSV down.

This has also been shown in recent years, when Tiemo accepted the challenges and lent a hand for the team." Schmid adds: "We know what we had in him and what we still have in him.

He should catch his breath, and then he'll definitely be back on the pitch.

Tiemo can't live without football and without TSV."

The latter also applies to Tobias Stangl, who himself no longer remembers how long he was sporting director.

"At least ten years," he estimates.

But now he has thrown it down.

Also because he was not involved in the coaching decision despite his office.

While he was still working on bringing an external coach to Isen ("Because I think outside input would have been good for the team"), the decision had already been made.

"When you find out from the caretaker who the new coach is going to be, it's disappointing." This and the development that some of his signed players have taken have made him retire.

And now?

According to Stangl, other clubs have already asked him, "but first of all I've always been with TSV, and secondly I'm enjoying the time with my children now."

That he still wishes TSV every success - as well as Wennrich - "that's clear anyway".

Grosse and Schmid thanked Stangl, "who made a major contribution to the fact that football was played successfully in Isen and that both the team and everything around it were further developed".

Schmid explains that after Wennrich's decision, an internal solution quickly emerged that Stangl also knew about.

The decision was actually made without him.

But also because Stangl had previously announced his retirement.

Schmid hopes this isn't goodbye forever.

"I can well imagine working with Tobi."

Incidentally, the new man on the coaching bench is no stranger.

Andreas Januschkowetz is a native of Isen and was already working as an assistant coach before he left the club.

Now he's back and wants to "further develop Wennrich's work".

In addition to continuity in the team, he also relies on players who are new to TSV Isen or who are growing out of the youth sector.

"In the medium term, the football year in Isen should no longer be characterized by relegation battles," is the goal of TSV.
