Maccabi Haifa held its press conference this evening (Monday) at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia ahead of tomorrow's rematch against Apollon Limassol in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Israeli champion comes with a 0:4 advantage from the first game, but the club clarified that "this is not a trip" and the desire is to reach a good momentum for the playoff games against Red Star Belgrade next week.
Coach Barak Bacher and defender Daniel Sondgren spoke before the rematch.
Coach Barak Becher began his remarks before the game and said: "After Olympiakos, I didn't have to put anyone down. It's important for us to continue the momentum we created, no matter who plays, we have to come and bring victory. We have a challenge, no Israeli team has beaten a Cypriot team outside - So there is something to do and of course to continue the momentum, that's what's important."
The coach was asked about Maccabi Haifa's games in the Champions League exactly 20 years ago at the GSP Stadium: "It's always fun to remember great things and great things happened here in this stadium. We want to complete history as far as the club is concerned, to reach the Champions League, it's very exciting, but with all due respect For the rest, we have a goal to win here tomorrow."
