Auburn College concluded its journey in the Holy Land last night (Monday) in a training match against the Israeli national team that ended with a score of 86:95 in favor of Guy Goodes' host.
Despite the loss, Auburn summed up the period in Israel with a smile, in which they recorded two impressive victories over the Israeli national team Maccabiah and the national league team, and sounded excited.
The coach of the college, Bruce Pearl, shared: "The journey here was a great privilege and a great honor for us, we are proud to have done it. Our goal is to try and bring the best colleges of the United States to Israel every summer, and to meet quality teams in games that will be broadcast all over the United States."
"It could be in Jerusalem, or in Tel Aviv, the main thing is that we do it. Not even war stopped us, we are not going anywhere and that is a message. We will continue to play basketball, and I will continue to yell at referees throughout the game."
Auburn College's point guard, Wendell Green Jr., summed up his stay in Israel and did not rule out a possible return to the country as a player: "It was a great experience to play here against professional players. To play against Danny Avdia? A great honor for me, my dream is to be in the NBA like him. To sign in Israel In the future? I'm not ruling anything out, you never know what will happen in the future."
