Jamal Musiala shone for FC Bayern in the Supercup and at the start of the Bundesliga.

And wants to get even better.

Coach Nagelsmann sees progress.

Munich – Jamal Musiala (19) is an integral part of FC Bayern: At the 6-1 gala in Frankfurt, the youngster was the outstanding man on the pitch and crowned his strong performance with a brace, so that even sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (45) said, "Why would you let him out?

He's in a very good mood, scores goals, is important for our game.” And England legionnaire Ilkay Gündogan (31) from Manchester City recently ennobled his national team colleague as Germany's greatest talent.

FC Bayern: Musiala wants to "score more goals" - coach Nagelsmann praises improved defensive skills

“I want to develop further, get more playing time and score more goals.

I want to take a step forward in all areas," Musiala recently said of his personal goals for the season in a

BR

interview.

For coach Julian Nagelsmann (35) there was no question what an incredible talent Musiala has.

Last season, however, the dribbler often stewed on the bench.

“This defensive reliability was sometimes lacking last year.

That's why he maybe played a bit too little, because he wasn't always fully involved in counter-pressing and attacking.

Not intentionally, but in perceiving the situation.

He's doing it much, much better now."

Musiala turned his back on England as a teenager and switched to Bayern Munich

Musiala has now fully arrived in football Germany after he left England for the German record champions in the summer of 2019.

The high-flyer struggled with this decision for a long time, as he reveals: “I have often made difficult decisions in my life.

When I moved to Bayern it wasn't easy either because Chelsea was like my comfort zone.

There were all my friends, we were family.

I didn't know what to expect here in Germany."

As a reminder: Musiala and his family moved from Fulda to Southampton in 2010, where the then seven-year-old continued his fledgling career.

A short time later, Chelsea FC became aware of the boy wonder.

From then on, Musiala played with the Blues up to the B youth level and – apart from two games in the DFB U16 – went through all age groups of the English youth national team.

His close friendship with BVB star Jude Bellingham (19) also dates from this time.

Musiala had "many sleepless nights" before deciding for DFB

But in March 2021 the paths of the two exceptional talents separate: Musiala has decided to play for the German national team in the future, as

reported by

tz.de.

"I've had a lot of sleepless nights.

You really don't know what the right decision is at that moment.

One always wonders what is best.

I've thought about it for a long time and talked to people about it."

He made his debut under ex-national coach Joachim Löw (62), and Jogi was followed by his hitherto biggest Bayern sponsor: Hansi Flick (57).

The new national coach allows Musiala to play even more minutes in the DFB dress, even uses him regularly as a six.

And Musiala also creates magical moments in this position.

Musiala already has a ticket for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar if he doesn't get injured.

No wonder he says today: "It was the right decision to play for Germany." (bok/pk)
