Summary of the Conference League qualifiers: Maccabi Tel Aviv - Aris Thessaloniki 0:2 (Sport1)
Exactly 18 years after Maccabi Tel Aviv's 1:2 victory over PAOK Thessaloniki in the away game in Greece in the Champions League qualifiers, tonight the team will return to the famous Tomba Stadium and hold its first training session in Thessaloniki in preparation for the match tomorrow against Aris Thessaloniki in the third round of the Conference League qualifiers.
So in August 2004, Nir Klinger's Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated PAUK Saloniki with goals from Ishmael Ado and Erez Mesika and created a big advance for themselves before the rematch held two weeks later in Israel and at the end of it qualified for the Champions League.
In that game, the players managed to overcome the madness in the Tomba stands with 28,000 Greek fans, some of whom even entered the grass during the break to try to hurt the Maccabi Tel Aviv players.
Now Pauk is hoping that Maccabi Tel Aviv will be the one to beat Aris Thessaloniki on their court the day after tomorrow after Pauk was already eliminated from Europe by Levski Sofia in the Conference League.
Tomorrow, Maccabi Tel Aviv will hold its final training session at Aris Thessaloniki's stadium, where the match will be held, and which is also well known to coach Vladan Ivitch, who played one season in Aris Thessaloniki's uniform before crossing the lines to PAOK.
The goal: overcome the volcano.

Maccabi Tel Aviv will spend the morning at the hotel where the team is located, a 20-minute drive from the center of Thessaloniki.
The families of the foreign players are also in Thessaloniki so that the players feel comfortable and do not fear that the women and children remained in Tel Aviv, which until yesterday was under missile barrages.
"This is an extraordinary gesture by the club towards the foreign players," testified last night a player in the team.
"It feels very powerful for all of us, that the club knew how to take the families of the foreigners to Thessaloniki. It also gave the Israelis a good feeling."
On the return to Tomba Stadium, one of the players said: "We grew up on that game that Maccabi Tel Aviv won in PAOK. We hope to be inspired before Aris."
