A fascinating two weeks of European championships will start tomorrow (Thursday) in Munich, in the biggest sports event that happens in the city, for the first time since the Olympic Games in 1972, during which eleven members of the Israeli delegation were murdered.
One of the main events will be in the apparatus gymnastics branch, with the women's all-around final taking place on the opening day, from which the gymnasts will qualify for the team finals and the finals on each individual apparatus.
Israel was represented at the senior level by the Olympic gymnast Lihya Raz, who two years ago won the bronze medal in the continental championship in the floor exercise, and Ofir Netzer, whose record achievement was the sixth place in the jumping final at the world championship last year.
In addition, Gefen Dor, Nega Shalit and Andrey Tursky will participate and the girls' team includes: Yali Shoshani, Nitzan Steinberg, Almog Lizarovich and Liran Barak.

"Our goal is to achieve the criterion for the world championship," said Raz on the eve of the championship.
"Personally, I hope to do good exercises and have a good competition and then go all the way. It is very exciting to represent Israel, this is my third European Championship and each time the excitement is greater and greater."
The delegation held a memorial ceremony at the memorial to the 11 victims of Munich.
The men will begin their competition only next Thursday, where of course the eyes will be on the Olympic champion Artyom Dolgofirt, who will take part in his first major competition, since the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year.
