An open letter has taken an old dispute to a new level: the management of TSV 1860 publicly warned its fans not to wave the well-known anti-Ismaic flag in the future.
"One team - one way", according to this motto the followers should also follow, as the KGaA put it.
Hasan Ismaik feels insulted and discriminated against by the flag.
The letter alone was taken as a threat by large parts of the fans, so shortly before the game against Meppen.
During the game in the Grünwalder stadium, things escalated, supporters report.
Security officers are said to have confiscated bags and fanzines with Hasan Ismaik's crossed-out likeness.
An affront to many fans.
The debate about freedom of expression is only really heating up now.
"I am so sad that my association, represented by the KGaA, is acting and trying to pretend that there is no criticism of Hasan Ismaik and his all-powerful governor Anthony Power," writes Thomas Enn for the 1860 fanzine "sechzger.de “.
The portal is known for its critical attitude towards Hasan Ismaik, not all fans share this radical line.

Now the club executive committee of TSV 1860 Munich is also speaking in an open letter.
And confirms that there were reports of such entry controls.
The club management around President Robert Reisinger does not agree at all.
"We do not consider such an approach to be helpful in any way in order to defuse the existing conflict," complained the Executive Committee, "as shareholder representatives, we wish that this flag would no longer fly.
This requires persuasion.

Nevertheless, everyone in the club would certainly like a better internal climate.
Opinions differ on how this can be achieved.

The club and shareholders would rather not see the flag with the crossed-out portrait of Hasan Ismaik in the Grünwalder stadium.
There seems to be a big discrepancy as to whether this should be enforced or achieved.
“It is our personal wish that everyone in and around our association cultivates a culture of debate that also values the other in factual disputes.
Whether this includes the crossed-out silhouette of a person heats up tempers.
For those affected, the representation is certainly an affront.
