Red Star, Versailles, Paris 13 Atletico: these Ile-de-France clubs growing up in the shadow of PSG


DECRYPTION – Competing in the National Championship, each of these three clubs has its course, its strengths and its weaknesses. Le Figaro takes stock.

After Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, the National - 3rd division - resumes its rights this Friday with eight simultaneous matches.

Among the eighteen clubs that make up the championship, a mix of amateurs and professionals, three Ile-de-France entities sail in the shadow of PSG, and to a lesser extent Paris FC (Ligue 2).

Each with their own background, strengths and weaknesses.

There is the historic Red Star, anxious to preserve its identity since the arrival of American investors, which started a Ligue 2 season

only four years ago.

The ambitious FC Versailles 78, bought by a real estate developer last year, and intoxicated by an epic until the semi-finals of the Coupe de France a few months ago.

And finally the Paris 13 Atletico, huge by its number of licensees but tiny by its budget, the smallest of National.

To spice it up, this season, there will only be two climbs to Ligue 2 and six relegations to National 2, i.e. a third of the clubs that will descend.
