The European Swimming Championships opened this morning (Thursday) in Rome, Italy with the participation of no less than ten Israeli athletes.
The European champion in the 200-meter medley, Anastasia Gorbenko, jumped into the water for the 200-meter backstroke, and set 2:12.94 minutes, a result that was enough for her to advance to the semi-finals tonight, when she is in 11th place overall.
One place after Gorbenko, and also with a ticket to the next stage, is Aviv Barzali, who achieved 2:12.95 minutes.
The two will try in tonight's show to get into the last eight and get their place in the final as well.
The first to jump into the pool was Miron Khiroti in the 50 meter butterfly, where he set a time of 23.89 seconds and did not advance to the semi-finals.
Daria Golovati took part in the 100 meter freestyle, where she touched the wall after 56.71 seconds and she also did not advance to the next stage.
Eitan Ben Shatrit, the young man, participated in the 400 meter individual medley, from which he goes directly to the final, when he achieved 4:21.22 seconds and finished only in seventh place in the first heat.
