Tomorrow (Friday), the Israeli national team will hold its second preparatory game for the Eurobasket and World Cup qualifiers, when it will meet the Georgian national team at 19:00 (Israel time).
The game was supposed to take place in the new hall in Tbilisi, where the home of the Eurobasket will be played in less than a month, but FIBA demanded from the Georgians a number of improvements and changes, so the game was moved to the old hall in the center of the city. Another game will take place on Saturday, but it will be closed to the public and will not be broadcast.
The team will play without Danny Avdia who stayed in Israel due to illness, but those who did not play in the victory over Auburn College are scheduled to play tomorrow: Gal Mekel, Tamir Blatt, Yuval Zussman and Rafi Manko.
Tomer Ginat, who was injured in the same game and had his mouth stitched, is also fit and will play.
The Georgians managed to play once in the preparation against Hungary and lost by 2 points, but Goga Betaza, a player for the Indiana Pacers (2.11), who joins the front line with the two veterans who have already done a lot of damage to Israel, Shramdini and Shangalia, should participate in this game.
Before the game, coach Guy Goodes said: "We continue to work on the things we would like to advance and improve in defense and continue to do the good things we do in attack. We will try to work on things we think of preparing for the championship, maybe give a chance to the players we would like to see on the field to see that we We don't miss one player or another. We'll want to practice, but also play good games."
Regarding the hosts' strong forward line, the coach said: "It's a good time to learn how to deal with them. It's a very strong line with a lot of experience and it's a big challenge for us because we'll be dealing with such sizes in the European Championship as well."
Goodes commented on the absence of Danny Avdia: "Yuval Sussman and Tamir Blat are entering the squad and know the system. It is clear that Danny is a significant force, but we play with what we have and not with what we don't have."
Tomorrow's game will raise Guy Panini to fourth place in appearances for the national team of all time, as he is equal with 166 appearances to the manager of the national team, Moti Daniel.
