On January 26, 2020, NBA star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna (13 years old) died in a helicopter crash that killed seven other people.
Two and a half years later, a trial began in the USA following a lawsuit filed by Vanessa Bryant - Kobe's wife, against Los Angeles County for invasion of privacy and negligence for publishing the photos of the accident.
Vanessa Bryant's lawyer described the gruesome images as "images of mutilated bodies, close-ups of limbs and burnt flesh".
He explained that the wife of one of the county detectives, who saw the photos on her cell phone, described the photos as "piles of flesh."

The prosecutor explained that Vanessa Bryant, who was present at the trial and cried during her lawyer's argument, learned of the existence of these photos a month after the death of her husband and daughter and that this made her suffering worse.
The attorney demanded that all copies of these photos be located - so that Kobe Bryant's widow and daughters would never be able to see them.
