Vanessa Bryant's trial against the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office started tonight (between Wednesday and Thursday), with Kobe Bryant's widow seeking millions of dollars in damages.

According to her, the law enforcement authorities and the fire department took pictures of the investigation materials of the helicopter crash in which her husband Kobi and her 13-year-old daughter Gigi were killed, and distributed them further - and not for professional reasons.

Bryant's attorney, Lewis Lee, played a security video in court showing one of the sheriff's office officers drinking at a bar, and showing some of the photos to the bartender.

Afterwards, the two were photographed laughing together.

In another case, a group of several firefighters looked at the photos together, which were distributed to about 30 other people.

"These images have been circulated over and over with people who shouldn't have received them," he said.

"It's photo gossip, spread for fun."

Afraid that the photos will reach her children.

Bryant broke down in tears several times and had to relive the plane crash of her husband, who was killed on January 26, 2020. "It was the worst day of her life," said her lawyer, "and the county made it even worse. They put salt in her wounds, they filmed the photos for a souvenir."

He also added that law enforcement did not conduct an adequate investigation to ensure that the images in question would disappear.

His fear, he explained, is that Bryant's children will one day be exposed to them as well.

A few months ago, Vanessa claimed that immediately after the accident, she contacted Sheriff Alex Villanueva and asked him to secure the scene of the crash and prevent any possibility of photos being taken from the scene.

"If you can't get my husband and my baby back, make sure no one takes pictures of them," she claimed in her lawsuit that this is what she told the sheriff.

"Since I was exposed to the photo, I have been tormented by the thoughts of who took it," she said at the time.

"It outrages me that the people I trusted to protect the honor of my husband and daughter, took advantage of their positions to take pictures of the remains of the bodies. I am also pained by the thought that people looked at the bodies for no reason, I am sad and angry that they used these photos and laughed at the bodies of my husband and daughter during recreation at the bar".
