Prominent absence: Markus Schwabl was injured in the game at Wacker Burghausen and SpVgg Unterhaching will not only miss the derby against FC Bayern II, but also in the coming weeks.

SpVgg Unterhaching is still the leader of the Bavarian regional league, but in the local derby with FC Bayern II, even a draw might not be enough to stay in first place.

Unterhaching

– Despite the recent 3-1 defeat at Wacker Burghausen, SpVgg Unterhaching still holds first place in the Bavarian regional football league.

Still.

Because the lead in the table is shaky, before the sixth matchday this weekend, the Hachingers (twelve points) have several pursuers right behind them: DJK Vilzing with the same number of points and the Würzburger Kickers, FC Bayern II and Wacker Burghausen with ten points each.

It is precisely these "little Bavarians" who will be making a guest appearance at the Unterhachinger Sportpark on Saturday (2 p.m.) and could snatch the championship lead from SpVgg if they win.

But even with a draw, Haching would probably lose the top spot in the not unlikely event that Würzburg wins at Türkgücü Munich,

So, Haching has to tremble not to lose his top position.

With a derby win against FC Bayern II, all mathematical imponderables would be eliminated - but right now the omens are not so good from SpVgg's point of view.

Schwabl is out, Maier suspended

Although Haching remained undefeated on the first four matchdays, they found it relatively difficult against Augsburg II (2-0) and SV Heimstetten (3-2), and in Burghausen the defense was not as stable as before.

Added to this is the absence of Markus Schwabl: The full-back sustained a muscular injury in Burghausen and therefore had to be substituted early on.

According to the club, the 31-year-old will be out for the next few weeks.

He extends the line of long-term injured Stephan Hain, Dominik Stahl, Tizian Zimmermann, Florian Roggermeier and Ben Westermeier.

In addition, top assist provider Sebastian Maier is suspended because of his yellow-red card from the Burghausen game.

In particular, the news of the two most recent injuries to Westermeier's knee and Schwabl hit Sandro Wagner's mind badly.

"This is absolutely bad news," says the head coach of SpVgg Unterhaching.

“Most of all I feel sorry for the two of them personally, but these long-term absences also hit us extremely hard as a team.” He is aware that first place is now shaky: “I have always said that everything has to go perfectly in order to play at the top to be able to - that will now be all the more difficult without these key players.

Nevertheless, we want to keep attacking in every game.”

Maxi Welzmüller is ready for a short assignment

At least there is good news: Maximilian Welzmüller, who is returning from Haching, could possibly make a short appearance against his former club after recovering from injury.

FC Bayern II, meanwhile, has recovered somewhat after a bumpy start to the season.

Head coach Martín Demichelis' team has plenty of talent in their squad, even if some top players from last year, like Fiete Arp, are no longer on board.

Note for the fans: Due to the school renovations in the immediate vicinity, the parking situation at the sports park is still very tense.

SpVgg Unterhaching strongly recommends that fans travel to the derby by public transport if possible.
