FC Bayern presents its new jersey for the Champions League and the design goes deep into the Bavarian tradition.

Munich - New clothes for the Bayern stars!

FC Bayern Munich presented their Champions League kit for the 2022/23 season on Thursday morning.

After the red home shirt and the white away shirt, the Bayern shirt series is now complete with the dark gray CL outfit.

But as so often, the devil is in the details.

Because in addition to the neon red stripes and club crest, a closer look reveals an inconspicuous diamond pattern.

And the symbols of the leaf colors acorn, grass, heart and bells were fitted into these finely set diamonds, based on the traditional Bavarian card game "Schafkopf".

Thomas Müller, who is known to be a passionate Schafkopf gambler, should particularly like this special jersey design.

"Schafkopf belongs to Bayern - and with a jersey like that, the Bayern heart is trumps!

We will have good cards in every game," Müller is quoted as saying on the club's website.

By the way, if the card game, which is very popular in Bavaria, still says little to you, you will find a remedy on Müller's YouTube channel - there the Weilheimer, who was born in Weilheim, gives a Schafkopf tutorial with two ex-Bayern legends.

Together with Serge Gnabry, Müller recently appeared in a rap video – this too was probably about a jersey presentation.

However, it will be a while before the fans see their Bayern stars in action for the first time in their new Schafkopf robes.

Incidentally, ex-Bayern captain Lahm recently said that from his point of view Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer are currently the leaders in the Bayern squad.
