The new team council at FC Bayern Munich is in place.
But not there: Sadio Mané.
Instead, a German national player moves up.
Munich – New season, new team council.
With the departure of Robert Lewandowski, a place in the official circle of leaders of FC Bayern Munich became vacant.
Newcomer Sadio Mané was also traded as a successor candidate.
No wonder, since the Senegalese has integrated well with the German record champions since moving from Liverpool and is already making progress on the pitch.
But: According to Sport1, Mané will not yet join the team council at Bayern Munich.
Although the club toyed with the idea for a short time, another player will now take Lewandowski's vacant place.
Leon Goretzka instead of Sadio Mané: New Bayern team council is set
However, that doesn't mean that you don't see leadership qualities in Mané.
According to Sport1, the 30-year-old takes care of his colleagues and especially supports the younger players.
With Kingsley Coman, however, the Bayern team council already has a player who represents the interests of his French-speaking colleagues.
Curious: Coman, of all people, recently made a declaration of war on Mané.
After all, both are not only teammates, but also fight for the coveted regular places in the Bayern squad.
"I think I'm a big, big player in my position, I play the football I like," Coman recently told
But Coman also knows: “He is one of the best in my position.
(...) If you play with such players, you can improve a lot, they can teach you a lot."
Sadio Mané not on the team council – who is now the third captain at FC Bayern
This means that the FC Bayern team council for the 2022/23 season is set.
In addition to Coman and the moved up Goretzka, the leader quintet includes Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich.
And: Since Lewandowski was also the third captain of the Munich team, a successor was needed here too.
According to Bild and Sport1, Kimmich is now the third in the captain's row.
But even without a promotion, it should be clear that Bayern's new top earner Mané will be one of the leaders, at least on the field.
Even in his first two competitive games, he was one of the linchpins in the FCB offensive and gave commands again and again.
And maybe at some point in the Bavarian team council?
