European Swimming Championships: The rain stole the show Israel today

2022-08-13T09:27:30.136Z

The swimmers in the competition held in Rome found themselves competing under incessant drops, which threatened to stop the competition • The Israeli delegation: only Anastasia Gorbenko qualified for the semi-finals - in the 50 meter backstroke

The third day of the European swimming championships held in Rome started on the left foot, when the sky chimneys opened this morning (Saturday) and there was concern about the continuation of the competition in the open Olympic pool.

The organizers announced that only if thunderstorms and lightning start that could endanger the swimmers, they will stop the championship for a short time.

Many of the participants were outraged at the lack of a temporary roof, just as they did in the artistic swimming pool.

The organizing committee tried to remedy the unpleasantness by shortening the waiting times, when it decided that instead of presenting the swimmers between heats, every time one heat ends, they move from one heat to the next.

In the Ketzma pool, the Israeli delegation saw Anastasia Gorbenko advance to the semifinals of the 50-meter backstroke, from seventh place after setting a time of 28.18 seconds between the drops, 31 hundredths below the national record.

Daria Golovati took part in the 200 meter freestyle and touched the wall after 2:03.82 minutes.

She was ranked 30th and did not advance to the semi-finals.

The last to jump into the water was Leah Polonsky in the 400 meter individual medley, from which she qualifies for a direct final.

She clocked 4:55.74 minutes and finished 16th overall.
